Frequently Asked Questions
What is Camporee?
Camporee is a large camp gathering organized by our Service Unit and is available for all of the troops within our Service Unit to attend. Camporee is offered once a year and is a great opportunity for troops and girls to share in Girl Scout sisterhood and to bond with Girl Scouts of all ages while having fun participating in outdoor and indoor camp-style activities.
The Camporee is run by Service Unit adult volunteers and CSA Girl Scout volunteers.
Does someone in our troop need to be Camp Certified to attend?
No. Although there does need to be at least one Camp Certified adult at each of the campsites (which will be assigned by the Camporee Committee) it does not necessarily have to be from your troop. You will be sharing a campsite with one or more troops. Since we do need to make sure there is at least one Camp Certified adult at each campsite, please let the Camporee Planning Committee know if you are Camp Certified at the time of your registration.
Does someone in our troop need to be First Aid / CPR trained?
Yes, you should always have an adult certified in First Aid and CPR attend all of your trips. The Camporee Committee will assign an official First Aider for each campsite, but since the Camporee activities are not campsite specific, you should have an adult First Aider with your troop to rotate through activities with you. Please bring a first aid kit with you.
Are Daisies old enough to attend?
Yes, absolutely, Daisies are more than welcome to attend the Camporee.
Is there a day-only program offered.
No, not this year. The Camporee is organized and styled as a weekend camp experience, and is best experienced as such. Additionally, due to a variety of logistical reasons, day programs are not always feasible.
How late can we arrive at the camp?
Check-in ends at 8 p.m. on Friday night. This is a firm end-time, the gates will lock and no one will be able to enter the camp after 8 p.m. We understand that this is a tight time-frame especially due to work and school schedules, so please make sure that all girls and parents are aware of this firm check-in end time.
What if someone can't arrive by 8 p.m. on Friday?
If someone in your group has circumstances that will prohibit them from arriving by 8 p.m. on Friday, we can make special arrangements for them to arrive on Saturday a.m. between 7:30 and 8 a.m. before our morning activities begin. Please communicate with the Camporee Liaison before hand so that arrangements can be made.
Can families attend?
The camporee is not a family camp. Only registered Girl Scouts may attend. Adult to girl ratio's must be met. Adult chaperone's must be a registered adult member of Girl Scouts and have a current background clearance.
How Many Adults Are Allowed By Troop?:
This is a troop ratio only/drop off event. We strongly suggest that troops adhere to the required adult to girl ratios and limit the number of adults attending to those needed to fulfill ratio or special needs requirements. Adults attending must be Girl Scout registered and background checked.

What To Except at Camporee
Schedule:
The Camporee is Friday evening through Sunday morning.
There are formal check in and check out procedures that all troops and adult members are asked to follow. Once this information is provided to you, please make sure all adults in your group understand the procedures.
A schedule of activities will be provided to you in advance or at check in. Friday evening you will need to eat dinner on your own. There will be a group activity in Founder's Hall Friday evening. Saturday day will be full of small group activities on a rotation schedule. Saturday evening there will be an evening campfire sing-a-long. Sunday a.m. there will be a closing group activity after breakfast.
Meals:
Friday night dinner will be on your own. Many troops meet up for a fast food dinner ahead of time and then head to the campground after. There are several fast food restaurants in Clewiston where you can meet. This is advisable so that your whole troop is together and arrives at camp at the same time. If arriving to camp early, you can bring dinner such as brown bag dinners and eat picnic style at your campsite.
All meals on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday will be provided. S’mores will be provided on Saturday night. Dinner on Saturday will be fire cooked meals at the campsite.
Please understand that the meals provided are fixed. Due to the logistics of cooking for a large crowd, it is not possible to entertain custom requests. When deciding on the menu, the Camporee Planning Committee work together to plan a variation of options in an attempt to accommodate allergy, medical, religious and vegetarian concerns. However, if you have food related concerns, it is advisable to bring alternate food. Food that you bring must be stored at your campsite. There are refrigerators at each site. It will not be possible to warm up food in the kitchen at Founder's Hall.
Please advise the Camporee liaison of any allergy, special dietary or medical concerns for anyone in your troop when submitting your registration.
Sleeping Arrangements:
Adults sleep in separate cabins than the girls. Camp Nocatee cabins normally sleep 8, however are on reduced capacity due to COVID. Troops with less or more than 8 girls will be combined in a cabin with girls from other troops.
Walking:
There is A LOT of walking at camp. Upon arriving all cars will park in the parking lot at the front of camp. All items will be unloaded at the parking lot and walked to the camp site. Wagons or carts are allowed to transport troop supplies, but all girls must carry their own personal items to the site themselves (backpack, sleeping bag, pillow, etc.). Please keep this in mind when packing.
Attire:
Sleeveless shirts and open toe shoes are not allowed for girls or adults. Please adhere to this rule. Open toe shoes or flip flops are allowed at the campsite for quick trips to the shower, but that is it. Proper attire for both girls and adults includes t-shirts (no sleeveless shirts); Bermuda or longer shorts or long pants (thick enough to protect from bugs); closed shoes such as sneakers, boots, or hiking boots; socks that cover your ankles or knee socks. Many troops dress in matching troop shirts for Saturday activities to easily identify girls from the troop. A complete packing list will be provided. Please refer to the packing list for specific attire needs.
Camp Rules:
The camp rules can be found here. Troop leaders are expected to communicate these rules to all girls and adults attending the Camporee from their troop, and to enforce these rules with them. These rules are in place to keep everyone safe.
Two rules that are worth highlighting here are:
General Expectations:
The Camporee is run by Service Unit adult volunteers and CSA Girl Scout volunteers. Please be courteous and respectful to those donating their time and efforts to help run the Camporee.
The Camporee is planned and organized as a program for girls to participate in. We appreciate that our troop adults love the Camporee also, but we ask them to remember that the adult's role at Camporee is to supervise girls and keep them safe, as well as to help facilitate the weekend program. The Camporee is not a mother-daughter event. Adults attending should be attending as a troop helper, not as a parent.
Girls should be responsible for their own items while at camp. This includes carrying their own belongings. Girls are encouraged to have a draw string bag with them to help them carry items while at camp.
