I expected rain so planned indoor activities. I had each girl bring a t-shirt to re-style. I provided a bucket of shiny buttons from Michaels, fabric paint, pony beads for fringing, and borrowed a bedazzler. The girls cut, sewed and beaded to their hearts content! - We also had stations to make body glitter (aloe vera and glitter) and lip gloss (Vaseline and powdered kool-aid). Then the girls held a fashion show. They used flashlights as spot lights, played Girl Scout music, and laid bandana’s down for a fashion run-way. National Family Day - September 24, 2012 It might be a nice idea to promote Family Day to the members of your group and their families. I think more families should take this pledge. Help keep kids drug free. http://casafamilyday.org/familyday/get-involved/ Ideal Emblem - Our program is designed to help you plan your organization’s activities with recognition awards in mind. Embroidered activity segments are designed to be “generic”, so you may use them for any of your regular activities or use some of our suggested activities with your group. Activities include Great Activities, Outdoors, Pioneering, Sports, Helping Others, Religion, Patriotism, and Nature. http://www.idealemblem.com Science Projects: THE HAPPY SCIENTIST Lots of videos, experiments, and other great science things to share with them. Oobleck is a great, and kids LOVE it. If you have never made it before Oobleck is a mixture of cornstarch and water. When played with fast it acts like a solid and when allowed to relax it acts like a liquid. You will need to make the Dancing Oobleck a bit thicker than usual. Check out the video at the bottom of the page to see the Oobleck "dance" to the sound waves. http://www.housingaforest.com/dancing-oobleck/ NATURE BOX This is a great way to associate nature with colors and practice the idea of reusing items you would normally throw away. Take an old egg carton and paint each spot a different color. When you go out for a hike, find natural souvenirs that match each color painted in the egg carton. Hold onto the items in your egg carton until the end of your hike so you can see how many you were able to collect. When leaving to go home, scatter the items back onto the forest floor so that you are following Leave No Trace principles. WATER ACTIVITY PACK From WAGGGS...
